Jesus Would’ve Been Deported. And Modern Christians Would’ve Helped.
He Fed the Poor. He Fled Persecution. He Flipped Tables.
Happy Easter.
Let’s talk about the man you are supposed to be celebrating today — not the whitewashed, Roman-approved Jesus in pastel shirts and church programs.
I’m talking about the brown-skinned, anti-imperialist, undocumented, community-healing rebel who preached radical love, economic justice, and gave his life standing against empire.
Because if Jesus showed up today?
He’d be detained at the border.
He’d be on an FBI watchlist for inciting unrest.
He’d be called a socialist, a threat, a radical.
And a whole lot of American Christians would be the ones calling ICE.
🛑 Jesus Would’ve Broken U.S. Law — Constantly
“I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I was naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.”
— Matthew 25:43
Jesus wasn’t American.
He wasn’t documented.
He wasn’t rich.
He wasn’t white.
He fled persecution as a child refugee (Matthew 2:13-15).
He was unhoused (Luke 9:58).
He welcomed outsiders, healed the sick without charging, and fed thousands without asking for papers.
In today’s America?
He’d be labeled a drain on the system.

💸 Jesus Preached Wealth Redistribution — Not Capitalism
“Sell your possessions and give to the poor.”
— Luke 12:33“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
— Matthew 19:24
Jesus didn’t say “blessed are the job creators.”
He didn’t say “pull yourself up by your sandals.”
He flipped tables at the banks. He told the wealthy to let go. He chose the poor.
If Jesus ran for office on his own values today, Fox News would call him a communist.
🚫 Christian Nationalism Isn’t Christianity
American Christianity — especially white evangelicalism — has spent decades defending borders Jesus would’ve crossed, cheering policies Jesus would’ve condemned, and backing politicians who would’ve crucified him faster than the Romans did.
You want to talk about family values?
Where’s that energy for families ripped apart by ICE?
Where’s that Easter compassion when Black kids are getting locked up instead of fed?
Where is the Christ in “close the border”?
“You shall love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.”
— Deuteronomy 10:19
You don’t get to praise the risen Christ and ignore the refugee Christ.
✊🏾 If You Really Believe in the Resurrection…
Then live like it.
Live like someone who believes in second chances.
In debt forgiveness.
In feeding people before questioning them.
In dismantling the systems that kill prophets.
And if you’re celebrating Easter while voting for policies that criminalize migrants, cut social support, and punish the poor?
You’re not defending Jesus. You’re betraying him.
So don’t let this Easter be a performance — but a mirror.
Because the tomb is empty — and so are most people’s idea of what Jesus really stood for.
Dream Big, Act Bigger.
